Get a Library Card
Fill out the online application or stop by any St Louis County Library location and present photo identification, such as a driver's license, showing your name and current address. If the photo ID does not include the current address, other documentation must be provided. Library cards are free to those who live in or pay property taxes to the SLCL district or the following library districts (SLCL has reciprocal lending agreements with these libraries)

A non-resident card is available for anyone who lives outside St. Louis County, St. Louis City, Franklin, Jefferson, Gasconade, St. Charles, and Warren counties at the cost of $50 per family for 12 months, or $20 per family for three months. Some restrictions on database and eMedia access may apply to non-resident and reciprocal cardholders. Additionally, Interlibrary Loan Service is not available to non-resident and reciprocal users.
Sign up for Library Elf service to get email & text reminders when my items are due?
Library Elf is a third party Internet-based tool for keeping track of what's due, overdue and ready for pickup. You can keep track of one or more library accounts in one place and receive reminders and notification. Reminders are sent when you want it -- before items are due (up to seven days advance notice, weekly notice or everyday reminders). For families or anyone who would like reminders before an item is due, you can set a notice for a selectable number of days in advance. If Library Elf is for you, sign up for an account.
Reserve a meeting room
Auditoriums and meeting rooms are available to groups and organizations that meet the guidelines listed below.
Applications will be accepted for January through June at any St. Louis County Library location starting the first Saturday in October.
Applications will be accepted for June through December at any St. Louis County Library location starting the first Saturday in April.
Take a computer class
All computer classes are free. Registration is required and begins 28 days prior to the class date.<br>
To register for a class, please call 314-994-3300 or visit any branch. Registered students MUST give 24 hour cancellation notice to allow others on the waiting list to attend.

Don’t forget about our Free Book A Lab Trainer service! Free assistance on a variety of computer-related issues is available at all SLCL branches. You may request a 30-60 minute session with an SLCL computer trainer by completing this form. Advance reservation is required and appointments are subject to availability. Topics and times are limited.

Founded in 1998, the History and Genealogy Department is a major research destination offering access to a growing collection of more than 85,000 print items, 850 periodical titles, 40,000 microfilm rolls, and a variety of electronic databases.
History and Genealogy Department collections offer unique sources emphasizing research in the St. Louis metropolitan area, the state of Missouri, and states and foreign countries that fed migration into Missouri. The collections also offers substantial holdings for New England states, the original 13 colonies, and a growing collection of sources from foreign countries. Military history and sources for research on various ethnic and national groups are well represented.

The Indie Author Project (IAP), formerly SELF-e, allows local authors to upload their work for inclusion into the Indie Missouri collection, available to all participating Missouri libraries. Submissions will also be considered for the IAP Select collection. Titles chosen for the IAP Select collection are available to participating libraries nationwide.
