Auto Renewal Starts in November

Starting November 12, SLCL will begin automatic renewals on eligible items. If there are no holds or if the item hasn’t reached the max number of renewals, SLCL will automatically renew your non-digital items two days before the due date, for an additional 14-day period. Learn more.

November is Native American Heritage Month. SLCL is celebrating with a series of programs exploring the history and influence of Native Americans in our region. Learn more.

National Novel Writing Month

Celebrate National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) at SLCL in November. All across the country, individuals are taking the challenge to write a novel in one month. SLCL will support participants with writing workshops and write­-ins at several branch locations. Learn more.

Table Top Games

A variety of table top games are now available for check-out at your local branch. Titles include Catan, Star Wars Rebellion, Kingdom Builder and Karuba. The games can be checked out for 14 days. Visit your local branch to learn more.

History & Genealogy 20th Anniversary

The History & Genealogy Department will celebrate its 20th anniversary on Saturday, September 29 with a day of activities and classes at Library Headquarters. An open house begins at 10:00 a.m. in the Headquarters Auditorium with tours of the department to follow. Classes of interest to family history seekers begin at 1:00 p.m. The open house is free and open to the public, but registration is required for each of the classes. Learn more.

Grand Glaize Branch Reopens in September

The renovated Grand Glaize Branch will reopen on Thursday, September 13 at 9:00 a.m. The new and improved branch will be 5,500 square feet larger, and will feature a colorful children's area, private study rooms, updated meeting rooms, comfortable seating and more. Learn more.

Podcasting Workshops

Several SLCL branches are hosting a podcasting workshop in September. Attendees will get an introduction to the different aspects of podcasting including research, marketing and hosting, and how library resources can help you get started. Learn more.

Explore Virtual Reality

SLCL will host a series of virtual reality programs starting in September using Google Expeditions. Participants use virtual reality headsets to explore a variety of scenarios and landscapes including oceans, volcanoes, space and college campuses. The programs are taking place at multiple branches and are open to all age groups. Learn more.

Destination Moon

SLCL is offering lots of fun outer spaced-themed programs this summer in conjunction with the the Saint Louis Science Center's "Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission" exhibit. Learn more
