If you have a child born in January, February or March of 2017 your child is invited to a very special 1st birthday party. Parents and children who attend will receive a free book to take home, courtesy of the library’s Born to Read program. The Bridgeton Trails Branch will be open on Sundays from 1:00-5:00 p.m. starting February 4, 2018. Currently, three branches are closed for construction, including one that offered Sunday hours. We're offering additional Sunday hours at the Bridgeton Trails Branch to help ease the inconvenience of these closures. St. Louis County Library has been ranked as a four star library in the Library Journal Index of Public Library Service for the fourth consecutive year. SLCL is the only library in the St. Louis area to be included in the index this year, and one of six in the state of Missouri. The rank of four stars indicates a high per capita use in four major areas of library service: library visits, circulation, program attendance, and public Internet computer use.

The Thornhill Branch will close for construction at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6 as part of the Your Library Renewed campaign. A new, 20,000 square foot building will be built on the existing site. Construction is expected to last 9-12 months. Patrons should visit the Bridgeton Trails Branch during the temporary closure. SLCL was honored to receive the Outstanding Local Government Achievement award from the East-West Gateway Council of Governments. Library Director Kristen Sorth and Library Board President Dr. Lynn Beckwith accepted the award for Leadership in Planning and Design Innovation at the organization’s 52nd Annual Luncheon and Awards Ceremony on November 17, 2017. The award recognizes the library’s ongoing capital improvement campaign, called Your Library Renewed, to renovate or rebuild 19 of the library’s 20 branches.
St. Louis County Library has announced plans to build a new Eureka Hills Branch, with construction to start in 2020. The Library has purchased a 3.5-acre parcel located at 500 Workman Road in Eureka, Missouri for the project. The new branch will replace the Eureka Hills Branch, located at 156 Eureka Towne Center. The current location is in a leased facility, and is approximately 6,500 square feet in size.
Winter Reading Club starts December 1 and runs through February 28, 2018. Last year over 19,000 people participated in the program, which offers fun activities and great prizes for the whole family. All ages are invited to participate. Registration begins December 1; stop by any open St. Louis County Library branch to signup. Learn more.

The renovated Daniel Boone Branch will reopen at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25. The branch is 10,000 square feet larger and will feature a Discovery Zone–an entire floor dedicated to children with engaging and educational activities. Additional updates include private study rooms, a quiet reading room, a new teen space and a business center. Learn more.
